Reading Proud

On 28th October 2023 I featured in the line-up of an event ran by Five Leaves Bookshop Nottingham (https://fiveleavesbookshop.co.uk) and titled ‘Reading Proud’. The event showcased the best of LGBT writing talent, and featured myself, Fleur Pierets, Yvette Taylor and Gregory Woods. It was amazing to appear alongside other brave, talented LGBT authors, speaking our truths and sharing our journeys. In 2023 more than ever, the road ahead looks precarious for myself and other LGBT persons, so events like this remain extremely important

I read the first two chapters of Brixton Nights and took a couple of questions from the audience. Many thanks to the audience, and particularly to those who bought a copy of Brixton Nights

I was very fortunate to have Fleur photograph me while I was speaking (I didn’t realise she was doing this – very discreet!), and these photos are below. All of the photos on this particular website page (www.brixtonnights.com/reading-proud) are copyright Fleur Pierets, 2023. Thank you again Fleur for these images

Stay strong, be bold. If you are reading this as an LGBT person, be visible, be brave
